Review: The Light My Fire Spork

Great Homesteading Ideas for a DIY Life

About

The following review was contributed by Tyler Adams, a decorated veteran, gun nut and certifiable gear-geek.

I got a spork in the mail earlier this year when I ordered some magazine pouches for my personal kit.

I looked at this thing and wondered why the heck did they send this to me with some mag pouches ?

Then I started playing around with it, and realized that this was a good thing to put into my bug-out bag.

After a little research, I discovered its maker. Meet Light My Fire products, a company based out of Sweden. They make other camping products as well but my focus today is on their spoon/fork.

So far I’ve only used this product twice and was pretty impressed with it.

It’s lightweight, plastic and it hardly takes up any room. I also like the fact that it is one item, and not three separate items like the old mess kits the Army would issue their troops. The fork and spoon work well, and the serrated edge isn’t too bad. It’s not really sharp but it’ll get the job done.

It is also an inexpensive item . They usually run between $3.50 to $7.00 depending on where you get them from. They have a very nice titanium version of this spork as well. That runs somewhere around $13.00 again depending on where you make your purchase. If you’re worried about protecting this item you could also buy the case they make for it.

The cases are also fairly inexpensive. In some instances they sell the case and spoon together under $10.00. The case also holds two spoons in it. I would recommend this item in almost any bug out bag, camping kit or vehicle for emergencies.

VERDICT: 4 out of 5 stars
